Preacher, like many mules, needs to trust his handler. When no one else is around, he is easy to catch, halter and lead around his paddock. He will pick up all four feet for his foster mother and allow her to bang on the bottom of each hoof. He enjoys being brushed in short sessions. He is very friendly to his trusted handler and will leave his hay to come get attention, whether it is being brushed, scratched or simply petted. Preacher is spending the month of October with an experienced mule trainer. The trainer is working to overcome Preacher's skittish reaction to new things but says he's reacting much better, is leading better, standing for handling better and has learned to wear a saddle and bridle. He hopes to spend a couple of weeks riding Preacher before returning him to his foster home.
