Izarra has been well-handled for most of her life, but she has not been broke to ride yet. In October 2013, she was saddled for the first time and did not mind the saddle, her foster home tugging on the stirrups, etc. Izarra was started under saddle as part of a Colt Starting Clinic put on by Michael Battenfield at the Bluebonnet Horse Expo in October 2013. She was not broke to ride during the demo but did accept someone on her back. From mid-August to October 2014, she was started under saddle for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She learned to walk, jog, and lope under saddle in an arena and out in a field. Her trainer also began riding her on the road/trails. She was adopted for a child in 2014. Her rider has taken her on trails and to playdays. She says somedays Izarra is great, but other times she bucks, bolts, or spooks. She's going to need an experienced rider who can restart her and work through these issues.
