About Estella
We haven't had happy adoption news in a couple of weeks - but we have it today! Some of you will remember Estella (gray mare) and Gabriel (the colt). They were our Christmas Eve seizure last year - Gabriel was born on Christmas Eve and sheriff's deputies were so worried about him, Estella, and their little herd that they did an emergency seizure. Clearly Gabriel has grown up well with BEHS care and his dam, Estella, is looking much healthier, too! They moved to a new foster home several months ago, and the family fell in love with both Estella and Gabriel - and decided they couldn't let them go. Congrats to the Kelly family, Estella and Gabriel!And thank you to Tracy C who left her family on Christmas Eve to go pick these guys up!In 2015, Estella's adopters lost her due to colic. Our sympathies go to them. And one nice thing about this story – the Kelly family originally applied to adopt nearly two years ago. They didn’t adopt them, but they started fostering over a year after they originally applied. They fell in love, and here we are.
Evaluation and Training
Estella is very easy to handle. She is easily caught, haltered, and leads well. Her foster mom suspects she is broke to ride and will evaluate her further when she is healthy and her baby is weaned.
