About Sunchaser

He was found estray and when his owners were not found, he was placed with BEHS. Sunchaser attended the 2014 Bluebonnet Horse Expo and was adopted at the event!

When Sunchaser arrived, he had a deformed front hoof. It has a split all the way to the hair line, and it cannot grow out. We do not know if this was a birth defect or due to an injury before he came to us, but the hoof has been seen by multiple vets and talented farriers and there is nothing we can do to fix it.

Through no fault of his own, Sunchaser was returned in April of 2024.

Evaluation and Training

Sunchaser is a nice guy who is good to catch, lead, and load. He stands for the farrier. He was started under saddle while with Bluebonnet, and then he spent several years with an adopter who only rode him a handful of times. He hasn't been ridden in a long time.

Due to his deformed foot, he could be ridden lightly on occasion but will need shoes or boots if he's being ridden. He would be a nice companion to a lonely horse or a pet as well. He stays sound without shoes unless the ground is very rocky, so he would not need shoes unless being ridden.
