About Panama Jack
Panama Jack's owners surrendered him when they were investigated for neglecting their horses. Panama Jack competed in the 2015 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and was adopted by someone who watched the competition. He was returned when he didn't work out for his adopter. He went back to his Training Challenge trainer, and she ended up adopting him in September 2017. She returned him in the summer of 2018 when she was moved out of the area and could no longer have a horse.
He was enrolled in the spring Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge in 2019. He won the professional division and was adopted!
Evaluation and Training
When he arrived at BEHS, Panama Jack was very nervous and scared of everything. He spent June-October 2015 with trainer Sarah Osborn working to overcome those fears. She's started him under saddle, and she has ridden him in a field, over obstacles, and in new places.
Panama Jack was adopted at the Bluebonnet Horse Expo but was returned when he was too much horse for his adopter. Panama Jack is back with Sarah Osborn, who started him under saddle. She says he is a very nervous horse who will need the right person who is willing to work with him.
He's probably always going to be a horse who is nervous and needs a rider who can reassure him. Although he is a big horse, he seems to prefer women and would do better with a female adopter. He's had a hard time with several adopters, and he's back in training to correct some behavioral problems that crept up in a previous home.
His Training Challenge trainer, Kristi, has done amazing things with Panama Jack. She started him over fences and taken him to horse shows. She's also introduced him to cattle and has taken him on trail rides. This horse's potential is endless!
