About Marquis
Marquis was placed with Bluebonnet when his owner could not keep him. Due to his age, ringbone, and an old injury Marquis isn't ridable. He spent over a year in a foster home, waiting for someone to adopt him. He was adopted by a program that worked with needy children – they did not ride, but instead they worked on ground work, grooming, and caring for the horses. The program shut down and transferred his adoption to one of their volunteers. She then could not keep him and had to return him to Bluebonnet.
Evaluation and Training
Marquis' former adopter said she occasionally lead her children around on him. Due to his age, ringbone, and our lack of knowledge about his prior training, we recommend he be adopted as a companion or for in hand obstacles/agility. He may be able to give leadline rides on his good days, but those will be the exception.
Marquis' foster home says he's very sweet, he walks up to you in the pasture, and he's very easy to catch and halter. She also said he gets along well with other horses. He's a nice older guy who would enjoy petting, grooming, and attention and keeping a lonely horse company.
