About Carmen
Carmen was removed from negligent owners and placed with Bluebonnet by the courts. After gaining weight, her foster home began working with her and found out she was a nice riding horse. She was adopted by a friend of the foster home but returned to the rescue in May 2020 through no fault of her own.

Do you like to trail ride? If so, Carmen is looking for you!
She's at 15 year old, 14.3 mare who has been ridden quite a bit. She doesn't like arena work and will get nervous or upset when forced to work in an arena much. But out in a field or on the trail, Carmen is happiest! She doesn't mind an English saddle, western saddle, or a bareback rider - she's versatile. She navigates manmade and natural trail obstacles, and she's been ridden by youth and adults.
Carmen doesn't always get along well with other horses - she's ok on the trail unless they run into her, but in some herds she's been pretty pushy with other horses. She is one of the few horses we would consider letting go to an only-horse home, just because of her personality.
She also really prefers an intermediate or above rider. She finds someone pulling or kicking on her randomly upsetting. But if you've ridden some and are steady with your hands and seat, she's ready to take on the world with you!
