About Mercedes
Mercedes was surrendered to animal control when her owners could not keep her. Animal control placed her with Bluebonnet. In the fall of 2019, Mercedes moved to a new foster home. Within a few months, the foster home knew she was not leaving and adopted her. She joins adopted horse Miss Trixie in her new home!
Evaluation and Training
Mercedes was nervous and pushy when she arrived at her foster home. Her foster said she is quickly improving with good handling. She is going to need an experienced handler for now, though, as she is a strong horse who will push timid handlers around. She's spent time with trainer Lauren Herr in July 2019 to improve her ground manners.
Because her club foot causes her lameness problems, she's available for adoption as a pet/non-riding horse. She MAY be able to be trained to ride and ridden lightly (mostly at a walk). But she may go lame again even with light work.
