About Esperanza

Esperanza (Hope) and her two-month-old foal, Paco, were part of a law enforcement seizure for neglect. When transferred to us, both mare and foal were malnourished, and Esperanza suffered from a bad skin condition, probably rain rot. Her skin cleared with good nutrition, and she quickly gained weight. In fact, we discovered she is a very easy keeper!

Esperanza is competing in the Professional division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Caitlin Davison. Esperanza will be available for adoption at the Training Challenge competition on October 7, 2023, during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center. The Expo and Training Challenge will be held on October 7, 2023 at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor, Texas. For more information about the Expo CLICK HERE, or for information about adopting a challenge horse CLICK HERE.

Evaluation and Training

Esperanza is very laid back and personable, evidenced by the fact that she follows her foster “mom” around. She has been pastured with mares and geldings with no problems. If anything, she is submissive around other horses. She is easy to catch, halter, lead, and trailer. Although she is not reactive with the farrier, she can be rather heavy and slow to give her feet. Esperanza appears to have been a broodmare for a number of years, supposedly she was ridden in the past.

Esperanza may have been ridden when she was younger, but she knows very little. She has been ridden in a round pen and introduced to an arena. She is willing and super sweet.
