About Rival
Rival was placed with Bluebonnet when his breeder, an elderly man, could no longer keep him. He was well loved in his life but not handled much due to his breeder’s age. He has spent much of the past several years in a 10x20 foot stall, so he’s now getting used to turn out and being around other horses.
Rival is competing in the Professional division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Lindsay Musick. Rival will be available for adoption at the Training Challenge competition on October 7, 2023, during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center. Evaluation and Training
Rival really seems to like people. He’ll greet you when you come into the barn and will walk up to you when he’s turned out. He likes to be pet/rubbed.
Rival is halter broke and will lead around. Rival will allow brushing but is not a big fan of it. He will let you pick up his front feet but working on picking up the back legs. He will load in the trailer; Rival wants to learn, and his trainer can't wait to see what he is like under saddle.
He is a stunning horse and a beautiful mover. For someone who wants to invest some time, he could probably be a nice open show hunter pleasure horse or lower-level dressage horse.
Rival learned great ground manners and started under saddle. He has some arthritis in one hock, so he's not up for endurance or strenuous activities like playdays or jumping, but he is a gorgeous mover and could do low level dressage, hunter pleasure, western pleasure, trail, pleasure riding, etc. Rival loves people and attention, and he's really ready to have his own person to love. He has ridden in an arena and on trails, and an eight-year-old (intermediate to experience level rider) has been on him at the walk.
