About Trojan

Trojan was transferred to us from another rescue organization for training and rehoming.

Trojan was assigned to a professional trainer for the 2023 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She did not get as far as she would like with him and decided to withdraw from the Challenge. You can see what they accomplished together on their Facebook page here. CLICK HERE

Evaluation and Training

Trojan is an unraced Thoroughbred who was transferred to Bluebonnet from another rescue. The rescue who initially rescued Trojan worked with him on the ground and lightly started him under saddle.

While at Bluebonnet, he spent time with a trainer who said he’s smart, wants to please, and a pleasure to work with. Trojan lunges well, loads in a trailer, and stands tied. He has cribbed some in a stall but never in pasture, and he doesn’t consistently crib in a stall. (A cribbing strap while stalled would keep him from cribbing, if his adopter desired).

He’s a calm guy who is curious. His demeanor makes him a fun horse to work with and train.

He has potential for dressage, hunters, trail, or pleasure riding. Since he is very green under saddle, he’ll need a more advanced rider or an intermediate rider who is working with, and taking lessons from, a good trainer. He’s young, curious, smart, and a pretty mover – the perfect combination to train for almost anything.
