About Blaise
Blaise is a well-bred Arabian horse who was sold by his breeder because he was not going to make a national-level halter horse. He was then sold again to novice horse owners who fell in love with his pasture mate (and ended up buying both of them). They placed him with Bluebonnet because he was too much horse for them.
He is a curious horse who likes to get into everything – playing with gate latches, picking up buckets, and watching everything you do. He takes a little time to warm up to new people, but once he does he shows the true Arabian personality: he’s a pocket pony who loves attention. He would move right into your house if you let him!
Evaluation and Training
Blaise is good to catch, lead, and load in a trailer. He stands for grooming, saddling, and bridling. He also stands for the farrier.
Blaise knows how to lunge as well as line drive/ground drive. So far, he’s been ridden in a western saddle and o-ring snaffle bridle and stood well for saddling, bridling, and mounting. He steers, stops, and performs upward and downward transitions well. His foster home has only ridden him in a large roundpen/small arena so far. He will look at new things and may even snort, but he is not spooky.
He’s clearly been ridden a decent amount, but he hasn’t been “finished”. For example, while he will start to move off leg cues, he is still very high headed under saddle. With some work, he starts to bring his head down, round his back, and collect, but he can only hold that for a few strides at a time right now.
He's young, well built, friendly, and gorgeous. With more training, he has the potential for trail, endurance, sport horse under saddle, dressage, or possibly western dressage. He’s got such enormous potential for a lucky adopter!
