This mare was removed from negligent owners and placed with Bluebonnet by the courts.
Evaluation and Training
Although Risa had not been handled much in several years before being placed with Bluebonnet, she’s a friendly and curious mare who likes people. Sometimes she’s easy to catch and sometimes she takes a little work.
She was evaluated under saddle in April 2024. She stood still for saddling and accepted a hackamore well. She was nervous with mounting and started to bolt, but her trainer worked through it and she did ok after that. She settled down and was ridden at a walk and trot. Her trainer feels like she was likely started as a youngster and then put out to pasture. She would do best with someone willing to restart her and bring her back to work.
