Brooklyn came to Bluebonnet in 2016 from a neglect case, along with Zera.  Both mares were pregnant and had healthy foals within a few weeks of each other.

Once Brooklyn’s foal was old enough to wean, her foster home started working with her. She was pushy but loved attention – she acted like a horse who hadn’t been taught manners. Her foster home got her working well on the ground and the longe line, and then she went to a trainer who found out she was broke to ride. She was adopted and returned for misbehaving.

Then Brooklyn hit the jackpot in 2019.  She attended the Bluebonnet Horse Expo and met the wonderful folks of Salado Creek Riding Club. They adopted her to be part of their lesson program, and since they adopted her they discovered that she loves trail riding!  Brooklyn has “adopted” the Head Groom at Salado Creek, Allison, and the two have bonded.  In September 2020 Allison showed Brooklyn in Western Dressage at a mini show and earned scores of earned scores of 69.5% and 72.7%! We just cannot WAIT to see what this pair can accomplish as they continue to work and grow together.

Salado Creek Riding Club adds, “Thank you so much for all you do for horses like Brooklyn!  We are very proud to support Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society.”  We feel so lucky to get to work with the good people at Salado Creek Riding Club to keep on helping horses!
