It does not get more country than this.

Local Opry-Circuit sweetheart, Nici Green will showcase the Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society fund raiser and spring social. Donating her gift of song to the event, Nici will take center stage at Noon on Saturday, May 19 2007.

The annual event is to raise money, supplies, sponsors and awareness for often neglected and misunderstood horses and other equines. Favoring Winds Ranch, located in Rosharon Texas will host the all-day event for the third consecutive year.

With a rodeo midway theme, there will be pony rides and a petting zoo for the cow-babies. Fun games for school aged cow-tykes will include pop-a-balloon, ring toss and a fishing pond. (Every child that plays will win a prize.) A concession stand will be set up to serve hot food and cold drinks all day. (No alcohol will be served, as it is a FAMILY event.) There will be drawings and door prizes throughout the entire day and vendors will have booths set up to showcase their products and services.

And of course, there will be music. With a voice as big as Texas, the blue eyed beauty will grace the festivities with her sultry-sweet mix of country music and Texas blues. Joining Nici during part of her performance, Shawn Johnson (local artist, friend and occasional singing companion), is scheduled as the second performer of the day. Cowboy Spencer Williams, the third scheduled solo performer will close out the musical entertainment with his mix of modern Texas Country, Blues and story telling that promises to leave ‘em crying in the aisles.

Gates open at 10am and are scheduled to close at 6pm. The 8 hour event is open to anyone that wants to come out with the family or group. It promises to be the most successful fund raiser to date for BEHS. All BEHS and Favoring Winds Ranch representatives are volunteer which means every dollar raised goes directly toward the care and keep of equines waiting for adoption.
