I love getting, and being able to share, the updates from our adopters. These horses come so far while at the rescue and then just keep being amazing with their adopters.
Arrowhead came to us in 2020 when his owner didn’t want him. He was in the Challenge and adopted but returned. He bounced around a few foster homes and then met his adopter.
From Arrowhead’s adopter:
He had cane to me late in the challege as his other trainer dropped out. His other trainer said he needed to be sedated to load in trailer. I watched as he reared while they led him and wondered what did I get myself into. There is no way I can train or work him. But here I am, so let’s try.
I got him loaded and got him home. After few days we started to work on ground work. After a month something clicked between us and a crazy bond was formed. I fell in love with his attitude and his heard headed self. I needed a horse for me to ride since the girls I normally ride are getting up in age. (28 and 27yo)
I adopted him. I knew he would never be safe for kids but he just made me feel like we could do anything together.
What a year it has been! He hates other horses ended up getting ulcers that were so bad, I thought I was going to have to put him down. Bluebonnet helped pay his medical bill so I didn’t have to give him up.
While I treated him for ulcers, he and I got closer. He and I bonded more and he got me.
I’m so happy to say… My 7 year old son can ride him where ever. My student is in live with him as well and she rides him. I ride him.
We are now training for endurance riding. He also will be going to some obstacles shows.
He will stay with me for the rest of his life. He has impacted my life in more ways and I will always be thankful that Bluebonnet has let me adopt him. My son Landon now 8 yo loves him.
Arrow is my wold and while I have my other horses, I also have a special place in my heart for this boy. He brought tears to my eyes when he took such great care of my son.
