Last November, a Bluebonnet supporter reached out to us to see if we could help with a herd of miniature horses. They belonged to her aunt who was very ill, and they had not been cared for in quite some time. We agreed to pick up about 18 miniature horses, but when we arrived there were closer to 30.

A dedicated volunteer and her family made two trips to round up the minis and get them to safety. One of those ponies was Magpie. She moved into a foster home who quickly adopted her, but she returned her soon afterwards because she said Magpie was too wild and hard to handle.

Fortunately for Magpie, we were starting up the fall Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge so she moved to a non-pro for ground work. That was the best thing that could have happened to Magpie! Her handler fell in love with her and adopted her!

Now Magpie has someone who loves her, and they’re learning to navigate obstacles in hand, jump in hand, and even drive.
