We’ve taken in over 80  horses in 2021. These are horses who had no one to turn to: they were starving or abused. Or their owners couldn’t care for them. Whatever the reason, these horses needed us and we answered the call.

But helping horses is costly, and that’s why we need your help. By the end of the year, we anticipate that we’ll have spent at least $60,000 in veterinary care,  $10,00 in farrier care, and $60,000 in stipends to help foster homes pay for hay and grain for our horses.

In the past several momths, we’ve seen an increase in the number of owners and law enforcement agencies reaching out to us. In just the last few months, we’ve been asked ot take in about 45 horses and have found homes for 11 of them, we’re workingon transportation for another ten of them to get them to foster homes, and we have several more we’re trying to get into foster homes.

We’re asking for donations as 2021 draws to a close so that we can say “uyes” to helping evne more horses in 2022.

Your donations will make sure these horses get hte care they need to survive the horrific abuse and neglect they’ve endured. Your donations will make sure horses who have been abandoned or unwanted will know love. And your donations will help owners who can no longer keep their horses be assured that their beloved horses will be cared for.  Your donations will help even more horses in 2022.

Are you looking for other ways to help?

  • Become a member of Buebonnet. Your membership is good for twelve months, and your membership fee helps more horses get loving homes! Plus, you’ll get access to our email and members’ only Facebook group, get invited to members’ only events, and more.
  • Become a foster home. Foster homes are the generous folks who open their hearts and homes to horses in need. We provide mentoring for those who don’t have a lot of horse experience, too, so you can help regardless of your experience level!
  • Adopt a horse.  If you want to add a horse to your life, adoption is awesome!  You’ll not only get a horse but you’ll become part of the Bluebonnet family. We’re here to offer advice and assistance for the rest of your adopted horse’s life. And if something happens and you cannot keep your horse, he always has a home with us.
  • Volunteer. We need people to trailer horses from place to place, to check up on adopted and fostered horses, to check out neglect complaints, to help with fundraising, and more.  When you join Bluebonnet as a volunteer, you’ll be helping needy horses plus meeting great horse-loving folks and making new friends.
