About Carlita
Carlita was abandoned when the property she lived on was sold. She was badly foundered when she came to Bluebonnet, and because of that she's not available for riding or driving. She was vetted in 2020 and her vet feels she's not uncomfortable - her adopter will just want to keep her off lush pastures to keep her from foundering again.
Carlita was adopted to be a pet in November 2020! Congratulations to her and her new family!
Evaluation and Training
Carlita is a sweet burro that stands quietly for grooming, baths, and farrier. She is very limited in walking due to laminitis but if she thinks you may have a carrot in your pocket, she approaches. She is easy to halter and her foster home says they have no trouble giving her oral pain meds or oral deworming pastes. She needs a very sandy area to lay down . She gains weight easily and the vet recommends hay and limited grass. Nevertheless she may have access to pasture. Sometimes she does not display signs of pain but she does if she is allowed to eat a lot of fresh new grass that has a lot of sugar in it.
