BEHS 1177 – Kuzco

Kuzco did not have a lot of handling before coming to Bluebonnet. HSPCA got him halter broke before transferring him to us. He’s was very leery of things and hard to catch. He has overcome all of that now.

Kuzco has spent about six months with trainer Dawn Fraser. She says, “Kuzco. I can’t say enough good things about this guy. He’s so expressive and just like a big marshmallow that you can’t help but laugh and love.”

He’s great for grooming and saddling, tying, bathing, blanketing and trailering. He’s building up experience under saddle, and he’s also being ridden bareback. He is still green, so he needs to be ridden a few times a week to keep going – but he doesn’t need daily riding.

Kuzco’s perfect adopter will be someone knowledgeable that he can trust, but that likes to putter around and take things slow. With more experience, he’d be a great w/t lesson horse for beginners.

Kuzco‘s perfect adopter will also have a compassionate farrier. He’s had some traumatic experiences somewhere along the way that he is quickly overcoming and will need a farrier that will not push him or use force, ropes, etc. The slow and steady approach has been working for him. At his last farrier visit he was able to stand for all four feet, though he’s still working towards fully accepting all of the classic farrier poses. His issues are very farrier-specific… as in he will pick up all feet for you to clean and handle pre- and post-ride, both for men and women.
