About Inez

Inez was rescued by the Houston SPCA and then transferred to Bluebonnet for training and rehoming. She participated in the Fall 2021 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and was adopted about a month later. She joins adopted horse Daffodil in her new home.

Evaluation and Training

Inez hadn’t been handled a lot before coming to the Houston SPCA. They halter trained her, and she then went to trainer Emily Mata for the Fall 2021 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. Emily worked on her ground work and started her under saddle. She has ridden her in both an English and western saddle with a snaffle bridle. Emily rode her at a walk, trot, and canter both in the round pen and arena, and she introduced her to obstacles such as a tarp, bridge, ground poles, and others. She’s still very green, so she needs a rider who can continue her training. But Emily said she was never spooky or offered any bad behavior, and she thinks she could be a kids’ horse with more training.
