About Bananas

Bananas and his herd mate were removed from a negligent horse rescue by law enforcement and later placed with Bluebonnet. It appears he had not been handled a lot before coming to Bluebonnet.

Evaluation and Training

Bananas likely wasn't handled much before coming to Bluebonnet, and while he was shy when he first arrived, he's not shy anymore! He loves treats, gentle rubs on his neck and under his chin, and hanging out with humans. He also is a great friend to a small pony he currently lives with.

Bananas is looking for a pet home - or a home who will continue working with him and train him to drive or to do obstacle work in hand. He is not a livestock guardian/protector (most donkeys really aren't) and needs a home where he'll get to interact with people.

Bananas is great to catch in his paddock. He's fine being kept in either a pasture or stall. He leads ok, although he's young and sometimes still will jump and play on the leadline. He works best for positive reinforcement and patience. His foster home can pick his feet up but has not yet had to have them trimmed.

Bananas has tons of personality and loves people. He really needs a home where people will spend time with him. He's a smart guy who could be trained to pull a cart when he's older or he could be taught to navigate obstacles in hand. He's not really big enough to be trained to ride unless he was only ridden by children.
