About Denali

Denali was owner surrendered to BEHS. He was on the track for a couple years then was sold. His previous owners were unable to care for him. He is a sweet gentle giant. He wind sucks, but it does not cause him any problems. His registered name is No More For U, and his pedigree includes Northern Dancer, Mr. Prospector and Seattle Slew which are known bloodlines for nice hunter/show horses. He is very sweet and kind. Like many Thoroughbreds, he has thin soles and may need shoes or boots once he goes into heavy work or if he is ridden on rocky ground.

Denali is competing in the Non-Pro Under Saddle Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Lucy Turner. Denali will be available for adoption at the Training Challenge competition on October 5, 2024, during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center. You can follow their progress on their Facebook page CLICK HERE

The Expo and Training Challenge will be held on October 5, 2024, at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor, Texas. For more information about the Expo CLICK HERE, or for information about adopting a challenge horse CLICK HERE.

Evaluation and Training

Denali can WTC under saddle but is very green. He struggles to pick up the canter to the right under saddle. He is good at lunging. He can be a bit lazy at times, like when being led out of the pasture. He seems like a quick learner. He is easy to catch and load in a trailer. He is learning how to stand still for baths and being saddle. Denali has been ridden in the round pen and arena at this time.

Everyone who has met Denali mentions how sweet and calm he is - it is hard to believe he was a race horse! He's an awesome age, a big guy, and so sweet. He is a Thoroughbred so he eats a lot but the foster has a great plan for him. He's going to make someone an amazing horse. He's probably best suited to an intermediate rider right now, but he could also be ok with a more novice rider who continues lessons with him and a trainer for a while.
