About Bangle
Bangle was donated to Bluebonnet when his owner couldn’t keep him. She said she used him for trail riding but hadn’t ridden him in a while because he had a carcinoma that needed to be removed. He has gone through treatments and is doing great. He has 1-2 more treatments unti the carcinoma is completely healed. If he's adopted once the treatment is finished, his adoption fee will likely go up - we've kept it reduced so an adopter can finish his treatment.
Evaluation and Training
Bangle’s been with an experienced non-pro for the past four months to prepare for the Training Challenge. They’ve ridden in an arena, round pen, and open field. They’ve gone on trail rides, ridden over obstacles, and been to horse shows. She’s shown him in dressage where he’s placed 3rd in in an intro class and she’s showed him over obstacles where he’s placed as well.
At the 2022 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge, Bangle won the Non Pro Under Saddle Obstacle Course Class and placed 6th in the Freestyle Class.
He's going to need a confident, experienced rider for now. Although his former owner said he had been a trail horse, his foster home believes he hadn’t been ridden in quite a while. He can be spooky and looks to his rider for guidance, so a nervous, novice, or timid rider would not be a good match. His foster home says he has a ton of try, though. He collects nicely and has a soft mouth and could a nice low level dressage horse for a lucky adopter or could be a competitive trail horse for someone. He’s not a kids’ horse at this time.
