About Duke Mitchell
Duke Mitchell spent most of his life with one owner. His owner donated him no longer after he turned 94 and had to move off of his small farm. During his life, his owner handled him as needed but he spent most of the time being a pasture pet and was never broke to ride.
He went to a trainer to prepare for the 2022 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. As they worked together, he began to show lameness and quickly became more lame, even after they stopped working together. A veterinarian examine determined he had severe arthritis in hind legs and was in pain, so we helped him cross the Rainbow Bridge.
