About Pegasus
Pegasus was transferred from Montgomery County in 2022 and placed with Bluebonnet for training and eventual rehoming. He went to a foster where they worked on groundwork and has been ridden before. When working with Pegasus, the foster realized that he is blind in the right eye, but he is willing to learn to adapt.
Pegasus competed in the 2023 Non-Pro Under Saddle division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and was adopted that day.
Evaluation and Training
Pegasus to us from a neglect case. He gained weight under the care of his first foster home and then went off to the training challenge. Pegasus is blind in one eye, so his trainer invested a lot of time with ground work and helping him be comfortable with his on his blind side. He's learned to lunge and he's standing still for mounting. He's been hauled to arenas, but all the commotion makes him nervous. However, he has hit his stride with trail riding. He might not like riding in a huge group, but he's happy riding with just a few friends.
He recently rode for five miles through the national forest, and he was a star. The only thing he's not a fan of right now is going into water - he's pretty sure water is full of Pegasus-eating monsters. He'll learn it is ok - he's just going to need an adopter who is willing to keep working with him to conquer that fear.
Through no fault of his own, Pegasus was returned in early 2025.
