About Wilbur
Wilbur was transferred to Bluebonnet when he was found estray and his owners could not be located.
Wilbur competed in the In-Hand 13 and over Division of the 2023 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. Wilbur placed 3rd in Basic Skills and 4th in the Obstacle Course competition during the Challenge. Even though he wasn't adopted, you can still follow his progress on his Facebook pageCLICK HERE
In 2024, Wilbur was diagnosed with Cushings but it is controlled with Prascend. He also has thin soles on his hooves and will need either shoes or hoof boots if ridden.
Evaluation and Training
Wilbur will halter, is great for the farrier, and will stand for grooming. Wilbur has learned ground manners, over in hand obstacles, and hauled to new places. He's taken everything in stride and done great.
In the spring of 2024, Wilbur spent time with a trainer. It appears that he has probably been ridden in the past but does not know much. He could do light to moderate riding for pleasure or on trails. He could also be a wonderful companion to other horses or competitive with in hand obstacles or liberty work. He trailers well, loves bathes, and is easy to catch, halter, and lead.
