BEHS 1368 – Galaxy

Galaxy has been with a trainer for a little bit and is learning a lot of new things. He leads and accepts fly spray. You can groom him, and he will stand tied. He picks up all 4 feet and will stand for the farrier. He has been learning to lunge, accept a bridle and carry a saddle.

Galaxy has spent several months with trainer Dawn Fraser. When he first arrived, he was super skittish, and she says he’s advanced a lot. He’s pretty good most of the time, but he will bolt and buck if he gets really worried/scared. We think there’s been something traumatic in his past, and he’s not quick to trust.

Dawn says, “Meanwhile he’s very good to lead, load and tie, he accepts spray and has been introduced to bathing. He’s good for my farrier and super easy and playful with other horses in a herd. As is, he’d make a great, hardy, easy to feed, cute and friendly buddy pony, with the potential for more someday. “

We would love to find him a home with an experienced handler who will keep working with him on the ground. He’s nowhere near ready to ride, and we’re not sure how long it will take to get him to that point. He could be a nice companion for an intermediate or above horse person who would like a pony companion for other horses in their herd or possibly do liberty, agility, or in hand work with a more experienced handler.
