About Rimmer
Rimmer was placed with Bluebonnet by a rescue who was overwhelmed with horses. She has a large, healed scar along her left neck and up to her withers that has muscle loss that she had for a while back. It does not bother her and affect her at all. She was enrolled in the 2024 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge's pro division but was withdrawn when the trainer moved.
Evaluation and Training
We don't know what Rimmer's history was before she arrived at the other rescue, but that rescue did work with her some in a round pen (on the ground). Her foster home worked on her leading skills and hoof handling skills.
She spent a few months with a trainer preparing for the 2024 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. The trainer got her started under saddle. She said she was doing well at the walk and trot, but her canter is very rough. She probably needs to build muscle tone and strength and learn to balance better with a rider on her back to help improve her canter.
Under saddle, she sometimes gets nervous and then wants to go. Her trainer was also riding her bitless as she did not think Rimmer liked a bit.
She said she can pick up all four feet but if you rush Rimmer on her back feet, she may kick out.
Rimmer's looking for an adopter who can help build her confidence and finish her training. She's a gorgeous mare who has so much potential in the right hands.
