About Rajaleel

RaJaleel (RJ) was seized from his owner and awarded by the courts to BEHS. He was adopted and then returned in 2009 when his adopters moved out of state, and he was adopted in 2012 and returned when his adopter did not have time for him. Rajaleel attended the 2015 Bluebonnet Horse Expo, met an adopter, and went to a new home! That home returned him in 2019 through no fault of his. He enrolled in the 2020 Spring Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. He did not get to compete in the event, but he was adopted anyway! Congrats to RJ and his new family.

Evaluation and Training

RJ is a good-natured horse who loves attention. When he arrived at BEHS, he had not been handled much but he has come a long ways since then. He is easy to catch in pasture (if he does walk or trot off, he stops when you call his name). RJ spent six months in late 2013-early 2014 in training with a BEHS-approved trainer. He restarted Rajaleel under saddle and did a great deal of desensitization work with him. RJ's trainer rode him in fields, on trails, through water, and over obstacles. RJ also competed in the 2014 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and the 2015 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge in hand and did fabulous!RJ is extremely well behaved on the ground. He is easy to catch, loves bathing and grooming. He can be mischievous and playful also. He's been working with a non-pro to get ready for the fall 2019 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. They've been working on trust, mounting (as RJ did not like to stand still when he arrived), and riding in different locations. RJ is very talented and can take on the world - but he can also be nervous in new situations and needs a rider who can give him confidence. RJ's trainer wrote "He’s a quick learner but needs someone that can be consistent with him and continue his training. RJ would make an awesome trail horse one day. He has enormous potential for the right rider. He would be best for at least an intermediate rider.
