About Sabine

Sabine was found estray with 5 other mares in Burleson County. The horses were awarded to BEHS when no owner was found.Sabine had not been handled much before coming into BEHS but she came around with the help of her foster homes. Unfortunately she injured her tendons in one leg repeatedly and could no longer bear weight on that leg.

Evaluation and Training

Sabine is a very elegant looking mare. We don't know her breed but suspect she's a Thoroughbred cross. When she arrived at BEHS, she was not even halter broke but she has come a long ways. A previous foster home taught her to give to pressure, stand tied, be fly-sprayed, be bathed and be saddled and bridled. Her next foster home sent her to a trainer who said he really liked her. He said he was riding her and she was doing well. He did comment that she is a little ticklish on her belly so the girth/cinch will have to be tightened slowly & carefully. She hasn't been ridden in a long time due to her lameness and had a bucking issue the last time she was ridden. If someone wants to work with her, she might be an occasional riding horse.
