About Miss Dolly
Miss Dolly, her foal, and her herd were removed from negligent owners by law enforcement and placed with BEHS. She had a foal on her side when she arrived, so it took the two of them some time to rehabilitate. She then moved to a foster home who began working with her under saddle, and in June 2012 she competed in the Chase the Equine Dream competition at AmerEquine's Festival of the Horse in Fort Worth. Someone who met her there told her friends about Miss Dolly, and before long Miss Dolly was adopted as a trail horse!
Evaluation and Training
Miss Dolly knows how to longe, carry a saddle and wear a bridle. Her current foster home has started riding her and says it appears that she's broke to ride but doesn't know much. She walks, trots and lopes but can also gait. In the beginning, her gait was uncoordinated, but it is coming together with more time under saddle. She's been ridden by a novice in an arena and has been ridden by more experienced riders on trails. She has great potential!
