About Little Eddie

Little Eddie was found estray by the sheriff's department. When his owners could not be located, the county turned him over to BEHS. Little Eddie was a young donkey jack at the time, and he was pretty leery of humans. He lived with two foster homes who took good care of his physical needs but he didn't learn to trust humans until he met Kris. She actually signed up to do the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with no intention of adopting. She went to get Little Eddie and discovered that he just really needed someone who "spoke donkey" - before long, he came around and discovered the jobs that humans can bring. While he was learning to trust humans, he was also stealing Kris' heart. She finally gave in and let us know she would like to withdraw from the Training Challenge and adopt Little Eddie! Congrats to them both!

Evaluation and Training

Like many donkeys who find their way to the rescue, Little Eddie didn't appear to have had much handling prior to coming to the rescue. He's been working with his Training Challenge partner, and he is now becoming a very friendly donkey who adores people. He's learned to navigate trail obstacles (the donkey agility course), and he's going to be an awesome donkey for someone!

Little Eddie is competing with Kris Murphy in the in hand division of the 2013 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. He will be available for adoption at the Challenge on October 19th, 2013 at the Bluebonnet Horse Expo in Austin, Texas.
