About Sandy Dancer

Sandy Dancer was turned over to county animal control and then placed with BEHS. She was adopted and returned in 2012 because she was too much horse for her adopter. A former foster home felt that she had let Sandy Dancer slip away once before, so she decided to adopt her and give her a home. She had Sandy Dancer for almost two years, using her for some light pleasure/trail riding. Sandy Dancer developed health problems and despite good care could not recover, so her adopter made the painful decision to send her across the Rainbow Bridge.

Evaluation and Training

Because of Sandy Dancer’s previous injury, she would probably do best with moderate riding - mostly walking and trotting with just a little cantering. Her foster home reports that she's an easy horse to ride: nothing much bothers her. Sandy's foster home has ridden her in an arena and on trails, and she's had novice riders on her. However Sandy Dancer is very sensitive to leg cues and will move out quickly if her rider squeezes her sides. That can be intimidating to an uncertain rider.
