About Scout

Scout was removed from negligent owners by law enforcement and placed with BEHS by the courts. Scout attended the 2014 Bluebonnet Horse Expo and was adopted at the event!

Evaluation and Training

Scout’s foster home researched his brand and found out that he was born on the Wagon Wheel Ranch and is most likely Hancock bred.

He won the Foster Home Under Saddle Division of the 2013 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and was Reserve Grand Champion of the Challenge. His foster home for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge says that Scout has been such an amazing partner to teach. He is very willing and eager to please. On the ground, he follows his handler around like a dog, and looks to them for security. Scout is at the bottom of the herd order, and has some battle scars due to this. He will not fight, and runs away from the other horses.

Scout has been ridden barefoot, and has very tough feet on any kind of trail. His ideal job would either be a trail riding horse or ranch horse. He has ridden with large groups on the trail, and does very well. Due to Scout’s lack of confidence, the rider needs to be a strong leader with consistency. He rarely spooks on the trail, and does not run off. He has a great walk that covers many miles. Scout enjoys being groomed, eating treats, and hanging out with people. He is very much “in your business” when it is just you and him! Not enough good things can be said about Scout. He is gorgeous, has a great confirmation, and an amazing, loving personality!

Although Scout was returned in early 2014 for bucking with his adopter, his foster home has had no problems with bucking and has had him back out on trails. He will need a confident rider, though, and is not suited for a novice or timid rider.

Scout is competing in the 2014 Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society in the Foster Horse Needing Additional division with Timothy Bohman. Scout will be available for adoption for approved adopters at the Challenge.
