About Willow

Willow was removed from negligent owners in a joint effort between BEHS and law enforcement. She was then awarded to BEHS by the courts. Willow recovered and was entered into the 2012 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She did such an awesome job in the Challenge that she was adopted. Unfortunately she was returned in the summer of 2013 because she was too much horse for her novice adopters. She attended the 2013 Bluebonnet Horse Expo and met a potential adopter there. That adopter came back and adopted her on Christmas eve! Congrats to Willow and Carole!

Evaluation and Training

Willow was not broke to ride when she arrived at BEHS, but she did have nice manners and was easy to handle. She's spent July - October 2012 with a foster home working towards the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. While training for the Challenge, Willow was started under saddle and taken on trail rides where she excelled. She was adopted and began crow-hopping under saddle at the canter with her adopters.

Willow's foster home has been working with her under saddle and says Willow crow-hops at the lope, but she will stop when pushed forward. She's a young, green horse and she's probably still learning to carry a rider and stay balanced. With riding and time, Willow should stop this.

She will make someone an excellent trail, pleasure, or working horse.
