About Jim Dandy

Jim Dandy was removed from negligent owners by animal control and placed with BEHS by the humane society who handled his case. Jim Dandy had some navicular changes and a bone chip in a front leg which left him unridable. BEHS placed him at a sanctuary where he gets to spend his days hanging out with older horses, being cared for, and being spoiled.

Evaluation and Training

Jim Dandy is a sweet horse who loves attention. His foster home has ridden him. He's very quiet under saddle, has a smooth walk and trot and is not easily spooked. However he does collapse if the cinch is done up quickly (a problem some horses have with a pinched nerve). He also rears if put under too much pressure (this has been an issue in hand only). He gets along well with other horses and would be an excellent companion. Due to his age and bone chip, he could occasionally be ridden for brief periods (no more than 30 minutes) primarily at a walk just for a little exercise. He really would do best as a companion and pet, though.
