About Asher

He was seized from negligent owners and awarded to BEHS.

Asher trained for the professional division of the 2016 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and was adopted at the event. He was returned in June 2018 because his adopters were moving and downsizing.

Asher competed in the 2018 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge at the Bluebonnet Horse Expo. He met his adopter at the Expo. Congrats Asher!

Evaluation and Training

Asher has not had a lot of good handling before coming to BEHS. He has done okay for the farrier, loads well, and leads fairly well. He spent three months in the summer of 2015 with a trainer to prepare for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She taught him to lounge, stand to be bridled, saddled and mounted. She was able to put a handful of rides on him before she had to withdraw from the Challenge. He knows how to walk, stop, turn and back under saddle. He's a nice horse who the trainer said learned quickly and wants to work.

His 2016 Training Challenge trainer has ponied him on trails and on the beach, and she's ridden him in arenas, on trails, and over obstacles.

She says Asher does best on trail rides, but he is insecure in an arena. She says, "I highly recommend him as a trail horse, you can ride him down the road and on the trails at ranches and state parks."
