About Flash of Cash

Flash of Cash and her herdmates were placed with BEHS when their owner could not keep them. Flash of Cash competed in the professional division and placed 2nd at the 2015 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She was adopted at the 2015 Bluebonnet Horse Expo by someone who saw her competing in the Challenge. She was used for trail riding but returned in the summer of 2016 when her adopter had to take a riding break due to his health. She was adopted immediately by another Bluebonnet member and joins BEHS horses Merlot and Jenkins. That member rehomed Flash of Cash in March 2018 per our adoption rehoming policy when she was moving out of state.

Evaluation and Training

Flash of Cash has the temperament of a very laid back, easy going horse. She is very green still – she’s only got about 75 days of riding on her (as of early October 2015) – but she is on her way to becoming a VERY nice horse. She does not tend to spook at anything new – she takes it in stride. She knows cues for the different gaits – walk, trot and lope. She and her trainer are currently working on lead departures and correct leads. Her ideal rider will be someone that can post easily because she needs more time to excel at the collected jog. She knows what Whoa means, backs, side pass, pivot, turn on the forehand and two track. She clips, ties, trailers, stands still for saddling, brushing and fly spray. She does have front shoes but that is because we have pretty hard ground surrounding our facility. She stands quietly for the farrier - we hold our young/ green horses for our farrier – we do not tie them. This mare could easily go into the show pen and be very competitive next year. Her trainer says she's loved working with her!At the end of September, Flash of Cash competed in her first show, an open show in Waco, TX. She earned 2nd in Halter and 2nd in Trail. Her trainer says the best part of the day was that none of the trail obstacles, the new covered arena or new sights and sounds were scary to her. She acted like a seasoned show horseFlash of Cash will be competing under saddle with trainer Jennifer Matthews in the professional division of the Bluebonnet Horse Expo on October 17, 2015 and will be available for adoption then.
