About Cherokee Rose

Cherokee Rose was removed from negligent owners and placed with Bluebonnet by animal control. Once she was healthy, we learned that Cherokee Rose was broke to ride. While she needed some refining, she was quiet and easy going. Someone who had applied to adopt years earlier but never met her right horse saw her and adopted her in 2017. She returned her 2 years later when she was moving.

Evaluation and Training

Cherokee Rose was started under saddle before she came to Bluebonnet. Cherokee is easy to catch, lead, and load. She stands for saddling and bridling. It seems she’s been ridden quiet a bit but is not well trained/refined. She prefers trail riding/riding outside of an arena, and she does best when ridden with a buddy. Her foster home said she improved with riding, and she's was being ridden by an experienced 13 year old. She was then adopted as a lesson horse. Since returning to the rescue she has been evaluated by a trainer who says Cherokee Rose is a super calm, family type horse. She checks all the boxes; does well over obstacles, not spooky, good with dogs running around, trailers, and is good to handle on the ground. She would be great for trails and fun for the whole family!
