BEHS 867 – Karma

Karma spent a month with a trainer in May 2017. It appears that she was ridden before coming to the rescue, but there were many holes in her training. Hilary restarted her under saddle and said she did well under saddle. She's been ridden in an arena and over trail obstacles, and she has been ridden at a walk, trot, and canter. She's still green, but she does learn quickly.Karma is NOT for a child or beginner at this time. When she arrived at Bluebonnet, she was very defensive any time someone touched her back or approached her hindquarters. She would pin her ears and cow kick. She improved while at her first trainer, but she had an incident where she kicked at Hilary with both back legs. When handling her on the ground, it is best to keep her nose tipped towards you (which makes it harder for her to kick). She went to a second trainer in August 2017 for more desensitization an work on her kicking issues. She did not kick while at that trainer's facility, but she may test new or less confident handlers with kicking and will need a confident, experienced handler.
