About Dudley

Dudley was placed with Bluebonnet when his owners were investigated for neglect. After being rehabbed, he went to a youth handler to be trained for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. He won first in his division, the Non-Pro In Hand division, and was adopted by his foster family! Congrats to Kassidy H!

Evaluation and Training

Dudley's former owner said he was used as a leadline pony, and a stay with a trainer confirmed that. He didn't seem to mind carrying a rider but was clueless what to do without a rider. The trainer's son worked with him and was able to ride him independently in the arena by the time he left training. He's still very green, so he'll need to a home who can work with a trainer.

He has spent four months with a youth handler to prepare for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She's been working with him in hand and saddled, teaching him to longe, navigate trail obstacles, and more. She has also taught him to drive. He's still green with a cart, but he could be a nice driving or riding pony with some additional training.
