About Soleil
Soleil was removed from negligent owners and placed with Bluebonnet by the sheriff's department. Soleil’s foster home decided they loved him and could not part with him, so they adopted him in February 2020!
Evaluation and Training
Soleil’s original foster home said that he was shy with them. He was evaluated by trainer Riva Aaron in the spring of 2017, and she said he wanted to trust his handler and be good, but he was skittish and had trust issues. He spent about three months with trainer Benjamin Arreguin to be started under saddle for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. Because Soleil had to work through trust issues, Benjamin had him carrying a saddle and bridle and working reliably on the ground by the time of the Expo. Soleil was diagnosed in December 2018 with OCD and arthritis. His veterinarian advised that he not be trained to ride and instead be kept as a companion or pet. He gets along great with their cattle and donkey. He is not at all agressive with people, but he doesn't seek out attention and often walks away from people who want to pet him, although he's starting to warm up to getting attention.He's such a handsome guy that he's going to brighten up some lucky adopter's pasture and herd!
