About Domino

Domino was placed with Bluebonnet when his owner could no longer keep him. Domino turned out to be a nicely broke riding horse, and he was adopted by a family as their next family horse. He was adopted in 2019 and returned a few months later when his young rider lost interest.

Evaluation and Training

Domino was ridden by his first foster home in the round pen with no problems. He spent time with a trainer who rode him and said he stands well for the farrier, for grooming, for saddling and unsaddling. He also leads well, and he loads and unloads easily. He is also easy to catch in pasture, and he gets along well with other horses. He moves around a bit when fly sprayed, and he stands well for baths. He stands well for mounting and dismounting from both sides. He is ridden with a soft, fleece-covered girth due to some old scarring. His trainer rode him western and says that he moves out to walk and trot in both directions on verbal command but you need to also apply leg to get him into a canter. He backs with hand and leg cues. He does better with neck reining verses direct reining and is starting to learn to give to leg pressure, walk and trots over jumps and cavalettis and barrels. He enjoys trail rides alone or with other horses, does well around cars, dogs, kids on bikes and several other items.
