About Sozo

Sozo was seized (along with four other horses) by the Bell Co. Sheriff’s department. The horses had no access to food and water and were in poor general health, including dehydration, long, cracked hooves and cuts/abrasions. Sozo has a sweet, but slightly dominate personality and wants to trust. He is generally friendly and inquisitive.

Sozo’s right front hoof was particularly long and cracked and that leg/foot appears to be turned inward and rolls out. There is evidence of a past injury, possibly from barbed wire, that may be a contributing factor. His veterinarian feels he also has arthritis in that leg. He needs to stay on a consistent farrier schedule, and he will never be sound for riding. He is on a joint supplement for arthritis, and that seems to help him be more comfortable.

Evaluation and Training

Sozo was barely touchable when he first arrived at his foster home, but now he has learned that attention is a great thing and he loves to be groomed. He's very good with his foster home, but he can still be leery with new folks and is going to need someone willing to put in the time to win him over.

He's a handsome guy who deserves a chance at a home of his own. He would be an excellent pet, beautify your pasture, and could keep a lonely horse company.
